As South Africa's T20 World Cup 2022 campaign came to an unlikely premature end, their captain Temba Bavuma was bombarded with criticism.

South Africa's batting unit displayed their flimsy side on Sunday versus the Netherlands as they failed to chase the target of 159 runs.

With Bavuma's batting struggle not a hidden fact, he may not be seen playing for the Proteas in the shortest format in the near future.

The whole situation has now developed into a hornet's nest, with Bavuma admitting that he will have second thoughts about his T20 captaincy future; however, he won't do it in emotional haste.

Here is what Bavuma said

"To be considering that now, a lot of it would be emotional. It’s probably something I will think about. I’ll speak to the relevant people. I’ll have to see who comes in as coach. When you have changes like that they come in with their own style, and they might find a different leader to execute whatever vision and style of play that they have,

"But it would be emotional now if I thought about all of that. Whatever happens I think I’ve carried myself with dignity through all the good and the bad times. If I were to leave I would leave with my pride intact."

Notably, his only noticeable contribution in the tournament was a 19-ball 36 against Pakistan in a losing cause. Moreover, the 32-year-old could gather only 70 runs in the competition.
