After being included in the squad for the first two matches against Australia, India's Ravindra Jadeja is looking at a potential comeback after a long injury layoff. However, things aren't as easy as they seem for the wily Indian all-rounder as the BCCI has put forward a demand for him to return to the national setup.

According to a source inside the BCCI who was quoted by the Times of India, the Saurashtra player will have to play atleast one domestic first-class or List A game in order to be declared fully fit by the medical team.

It should be mentioned that Jadeja was included in the squad on a conditional basis, subject to his fitness which he will have to prove in the lead-up to the series.

What the BCCI source said

“Jadeja has been asked to play at least one domestic game. If he is indeed fit then it will solve the problem of having a left-hander in the middle order and India can play five bowlers."

The left-hander has been out of the team after injuring his knee during the Asia Cup in Dubai after which he missed all crucial series for his nation including the World Cup 2022 where India reached the semi-finals of the tournament.

In Jadeja's place, Axar Patel has stepped up and has been brilliant both with bat and ball, performing at critical junctures.
