India's Shubman Gill produced an absolute masterclass in the series decider against New Zealand in front of a jam-packed Ahmedabad crowd.

The stylish Punjab batter helped India pocket the match and the series with his whirlwind knock of 126*.

In the post-match presentation, New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner lauded the Indian youngster for his form.

Here's what Santner said

"It would have been nice to take the trophy but India played better. Gill has been in a pretty good nick. It's tough to win if you lose five in the powerplay. I guess during that time of the year [when the World Cup is planned] there could be a dew around, so the teams will be looking to bowl first. So it might be about restricting teams to 320."

Speaking of his own batting, the Gujarat Titans player credited his father for his new-found success, apart from thanking the team management and captain.

The 23-year-old became the Black Caps' nemesis this tour, scoring 144 and 360 runs in the T20I and ODI series, respectively.

Gill, who is now the fifth Indian to score a hundred in each format, will gear up to take part in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy, beginning on February 9.
