Making an international comeback is never easy, especially in a high-profile series. However, India's Ravindra Jadeja had other plans as he played for the hosts in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023 with much success after a seven-month injury layoff.

Jadeja's all-rounder performance was the highlight all across the series, where he claimed 22 wickets and scored 135 runs. Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar hailed Jadeja's bowling this series, calling his comeback 'brilliant'.

On his international return at Nagpur, the Chennai Super Kings player scored valuable 70 runs and claimed a fifer as well to help India clinch the match by an innings and 132 runs.

As per India Today, Manjrekar said that the 34-year-old's bowling suited the pitches on offer in BGT 2023, and he made good use of it.

Here's what Manjrekar said

"His bowling is perfectly suited for such pitches and he showed that by doing it. In the first Test, the way he scored runs as well. Before Axar Patel's knock, there was an important knock from Jadeja.

Rohit Sharma had gotten out, then also India were in a troublesome situation. So brilliant bowling on his comeback and his batting was also very crucial for India in that Test match.”

Rohit Sharma and Co. won the Nagpur and Delhi Tests before Steve Smith captained Australia to hit back and claim the Indore encounter before the Ahmedabad tie ended in a draw.

India eventually won the BGT 2023 2-1 and kept the coveted trophy to themselves for the fourth time in a row.

Awarded Joint 'Player of the Series' along with Ravichandran Ashwin, Jadeja will be back in action for the ODI series against Australia, starting March 17.
