Indian middle-order stalwart Cheteshwar Pujara is all set to play his 100th Test on Friday when India takes on Australia in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Ahead of the marquee encounter, the Delhi and District Association (DDCA) announced that the governing authority will felicitate Pujara, which will be separate from the one organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). DDCA Joint Secretary Rajan Manchanda informed Cricket Next about the same.

Pujara, 35, made his Test debut back in 2010, and since then has played 99 matches for India, scoring 7,021 runs at an average of 44.1 with 19 centuries and 34 fifties.

The Saurashtra batter will become the 13th Indian to reach the 100th Test mark, with Virat Kohli being the last player on this tally.

Here's what Manchanda said

“We will be honouring Cheteshwar Pujara with a memento before the start of the Day 1 here at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

President Rohan Jaitley will be present during the felicitation ceremony along with the other office bearers here. This will be separate from what the BCCI has planned for Pujara’s 100th Test.”

India won the first Test against Australia in Nagpur by a thumping margin to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

The third and fourth Tests will be played in Indore and Ahmedabad, respectively.
