David Willey wants to make full use of the opportunity to secure a T20 World Cup title victory and cement his place in the squad.

Willey, who made his debut in the white-ball formats in 2015 has been impressive to pick wickets in the powerplay and contain runs in the death overs.

However, he was dropped ahead of the 2019 World Cup in favor of Jofra Archer, who had express pace and performances in the IPL. At this point, the left-arm pacer believed his international was over after the snub.

The 32-year-old admitted to being in tears, when the Three Lions lifted the 2019 World Cup, without him.

Although Willey featured in a few ODIs in 2020, it was only after two years in 2021, he was drafted into the T20I squad. The few reasons for his recall were Jofra Archer's injury and multiple squads due to COVID-19.

With 13 wickets in 11 T20Is this year, Willey has been impressive to put up a strong show and wants to label himself as a first-choice pacer, who can be used as a floater with the bat as well.

He returned as England's joint-highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded T20I series against Pakistan with seven scalps in six appearances. The southpaw thinks he wants to enjoy every bit of his appearance in an England shirt and add another ICC trophy to the team's cabinet.

"Ultimately we want to win a World Cup and whoever takes the field the lads will be right behind them. It would be pretty magical to win this one having missed out in 19. It would be amazing if we could win here as well," said Willey.

England will kick-off their T20 WC 2022 campaign on Saturday (October 22) against Afghanistan in Perth.
