Cricket Australia (CA) is closing in on it's verdict of whether or not the board wants to lift the ban on David Warner's captaincy. The final board meeting is set to be held this October. The agenda will mainly revolve around reviewing the code of conduct and discussing Warner's captaincy ban.

How it all started

After being involved in the infamous 'sandgate' scandal, Warner along with a few other from the Australian squad were reprimanded with either a ban, suspension or worse. In the case of Warner, he was handed a lifetime captaincy ban.

Since his return to international cricket Warner has impressed peers and the Australian management with his sincerity and consistent performances.

Recently, the batter has expressed his outpouring will to captain Australia in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 and the squad in general. After Aaron Finch stepped away from ODI captaincy and is likely to move away from the T2O captaincy all together, the top position have opened up both the formats.

Cricket Australia clears the air

"The view within Cricket Australia is that David is doing particularly well on the field and making a great contribution off the field. The first step in terms of David's leadership ban is to review the code and see if those sanctions are able to be reviewed. And the appropriate revisions to that code that would need to be made."

Time is ticking

In order to uplift the captaincy ban on Warner, Cricket Australia will have to review their code of conduct and make the essential changes before the T20 World Cup 2022 later this October hosted by the Aussies.
