Durham County Cricket Club (DCCC) have announced the signing of Dutch player Bas de Leede on a two-year deal. The all-rounder will be available to play all three formats for Durham and will be registered as a local player.

Playing for the Netherlands, de Leede had a phenomenal ICC T20 World Cup 2022, picking up 13 wickets across the tournament. de Leede is the second Dutch player to sign for Durham this season after Brendon Glover, who inked a two-year deal last month.

Interestingly, both players followed their former national coach Ryan Campbell, who moved to the County this season.

In a statement, the top-order batter expressed his excitement about joining the club.

Here's what de Leede said

“I can’t wait for the summer to start in what will hopefully be a really successful one for themclub and hopefully I can contribute to as many wins as possible.

To play county cricket has always been a dream for me and I will be forever grateful to Durham for giving me the opportunity to do so,"

Director of Cricket, Marcus North said that de Leede's inclusion adds depth to their side.

“Bas de Leede is arguably the most exciting allrounder in associate cricket right now.

He is a genuine all-rounder and brings quality and skill set which will strengthen our playing squad in the T20 Blast and will provide depth in our County Championship,"

The 23-year-old has played 23 ODIs and 31 T20Is for the Netherlands, scoring 1,090 runs and picking up 36 wickets combined.

He played in the International League T20 (ILT20) for MI Emirates this season.
