Agarwal's double ton, Vidarbha's historic win highlights Day 3 of Ranji Trophy Round-6

It was a monumental day in the Ranji Trophy, full of some amazing individuals performance and team results. Let’s take a quick view on some of the best moments from Day 3 of the Round-6 matches.

Vidarbha historic win over Gujarat

Vidarbha defended the lowest total in history as Gujarat collapsed chasing 73 and got bowled out for 54 on Day 3. Vidarbha set a target of 73 for Gujarat late on day 2. Chasing the target, Gujarat lost Priyesh Patel before stumps but was left to do a comfortable task of getting 67 runs with nine wickets in hand on day 3. Aditya Sarvate-led spin attack ripped through Gujarat’s batting order and Vidarbha went on to win by 18 runs.

Punjab crush Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh suffered a huge innings defeat on day 3 as Punjab registered their third win of the season. Starting the day on 150 for 6, the defending champions were still 293 runs behind in the first innings. Punjab pace attack did not waste much time and bowled Madhya Pradesh out for 244 in the first session. 

Trailing by 199 runs in the first innings, Madhya Pradesh were forced to follow-on and Arshdeep got Punjab off to another great start. The left-arm pacer scalped quick 4 wickets and limited MP to 18 for 5. MP went on to get all-out for 77, losing the game by an innings and 122 runs.

Mayank Agarwal hits double ton

Mayank Agarwal scored a classy double century in the round-6 match against Kerala on day 3. Karnataka had a rusty start to their innings on day 2 but Agarwal steadied the ship and put his side in control with an unbeaten 87 at stumps. 

Resuming on day 3, Karnataka skipper completed his century in the morning session, his second of the season and went onto convert it into a double century, his fifth in first-class cricket. He departed after making 208, putting Karnataka into a commanding position of just 6-runs behind Kerala’s first innings total with 5 wickets in hand.

Divij Mehra put Delhi on top

20-year-old Delhi pacer Divij Mehra registered his maiden first-class five wicket haul and put Delhi in control against Mumbai at the end of Day 3. The 20-year-old broke the back of Mumbai batting, taking the wickets of four of the Mumbai’s top five batters, including in-form Sarfaraz Khan for a golden duck. 

Mumbai found themselves five down with only 37 on the board in the morning session. He went on to complete his five-wicket haul by dismissing Mohit Avasthi late on day 3 and Mumbai are 9 down with a lead of 92 runs at stumps.
