On Sunday, Thailand women defeated Malaysia women by 50 runs in a low-scoring match. Malaysia won the toss and elected to field first and the decision instantly backfired on them.

Thailand got off to a brisk start, with star batter Nannapat Koncharoenkai leading the charge. The pitch was not easy to bat on, but she played a gritty knock of 41, and laid the foundation for the middle order batters to capitalise on.

Naruemol Chaiwai (28) and Chanida Sutthiruang (24) played vital roles with the bat, but Thailand lost momentum towards the end as they finished their innings on 115 for 5.

Chasing 116, Malaysia lost the early wicket of Wan Julia (0) who went back to the pavilion without troubling the scoreboard.

Elsa Hunter and Winifred Duraisingam started the repair work, but Thailand bowlers were too hot to handle as they kept churning out wickets. Hunter (15), Mas Elysa (0), and Duraisingam (15) went back to the pavilion in quick successions and Malaysia were left in a precarious situation.

Mahria Ismail tried her best to steady the ship, but her side kept losing wickets and no one really showed any resistance as the Malaysian innings ended at 65/8, thus losing the game by a whopping margin.

Thipatcha Puttawong was the pick of the bowlers for Thailand, with figures of 2 for 7 in 4 overs.
