Everything that could have gone wrong for Team India in the Asia Cup 2022 did actually go wrong. The nightmare began way before the Asia Cup took centre stage as Harshal Patel & Jasprit Bumrah were ruled out of the tournament. 

Things went from bad to worst when Jadeja got injured midway through the tournament, Avesh Khan was declared ill and India ended up falling one pacer short in the Super 4s. 

The fear of losing to Pakistan came true when India squared up against them second time in the tournament. While everyone expected India to bounceback, things went out of control as they lost to Sri Lanka and took an early exit from the tournament.

The same old story of a squad full of superstars failing to live upto the expectations continued. But, amidts all this darkness there were a few glimers of hope for the fans.

A few things that actually went right for the Men in Blue

Hardik Pandya, the match winner:

A complete match winning performance with both bat & ball is all that a team wants from its all-rounder. Hardik Pandya showcased his mettle in the very first match of the tournament against arch-rivals Pakistan with a player of the match performance.

Return of King Kohli: 

Virat Kohli started off the Asia Cup with a hard fought 35 against Pakistan & ended the competition with his long awaited 71st century against Afghanistan. He scored 276 runs in 4 matches. 

Arshdeep Singh in the death: 

Arshdeep Singh has impressed one & all with his death bowling. He executed yorkers at will and was absolutely sensation in the final over against Pakistan & Sri Lanka in the super 4. India might have lost both the fixtures but we surely gained a young pacer who could deliver under pressure.

Lastly, the biggest positive for Team India is that what could have gone wrong in the month of october during the T20 World Cup has already taken place.

The team's weakness have been exposed, the stars have fallen from the sky, the galacticos couldn't fire when it mattered. Luckily it hasn't happened in the biggest stage of them all.

India can't take the field with 5 bowling options, we need an extra pacer in the squad & there is no point travelling with 4 spinners. Rohit Sharma and company now know what they need to avoid, things they need to stay away from if Team India wants to end its drought and win an ICC Trophy.
