England’s Bazball graduate Ben Duckett completed a chanceless ton against Ireland on Day 2 morning. The opening batter first compiled a 109-run stand with Zak Crawley, and later formed forces with Number three Ollie Pope to take England’s total past the 350-run mark with ease.

Duckett himself listed a career-best 182, scoring his runs at a strike-rate of above 102 with one six and 24 elegant boundaries to his name. The innings marked his second century in Tests, and it helped him scale a new Test height at the format’s most iconic venue, i.e., the Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Ben Duckett runs rampant with record 150

Ben Duckett, who reached his century off the 106th delivery of his innings, raced to 150 from just 150 balls. As it turned out, his masterclass effort is now the fastest 150 in a Test match at the Lord's in its entire 139-year history. He has gone past the legendary Sir Donald Bradman, who slammed his fastest 150 at the Lord's in 166 balls. The next on the list are Kevin Pietersen (176 balls), Rob Key (181 balls) and Gordon Greenidge (189 balls).

The cricketer blasted runs at will across both sides of the wicket, until an angling length ball from Graham Hume ended his stay at the crease at 182.

Duckett’s departure paved way for senior man Joe Root, who took England’s total past 500 runs alongside Ollie Pope without further casualty.

After tea, the hosts declared their on 524-4 as soon as Pope got out after registering his maiden double in Tests. In their innings second innings, the Irish are crawling at 25-2, trailing by 327 runs.

As has been England’s norm since Ben Stokes’ appointment as Test skipper last year, they have minted their runs at a run-rate of above six, having faced just 80 overs in their first innings so far.
