The Royal Challengers Bengaluru are up against the Punjab Kings in the 34th match of the IPL 2025. The match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium has been reduced to 14 per side due the rain interference at the beginning.
After the toss was done, it was noted that RCB excluded Devdutt Padikkal and included an extra bowler in his place. A question might arise in a general fan's mind - Why an extra bowler by RCB?
The Need Of The Hour
The RCB management felt that as the game is shortened to just 14 overs, they would not need so many batters. Instead if they have an extra bowler, it would allow them extra flexibility. If the batting order collapses, they can bring in an extra batter and yet have the balanced bowling attack.
On the other hand, in a game where the batters will look to take full toll from the first ball they can bring in an extra bowler (if everything goes well with the bat) and bring in an extra bowler to add insurance to their bowling.
What Are The Revised Playing Conditions Of The Match?
Each team will get to play 14 overs in the game. Four bowlers are allowed to bowl three overs each in the game. One bowler will be able to bowl two overs in this match. The powerplay will be of four overs for both the sides.
