Perth Scorchers Women will aim to defend their title in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2022 when they take on Sydney Thunder Women in their opening fixture of the tournament. The match is set to be staged at Blacktown International Sportspark, Sydney on Sunday, October 16. 

Perth Scorchers played an aggressive brand of cricket in the last edition of the tournament and finished the season at the top of the points table. Led by Sophie Devine, the defending champions will look to clinch another WBBL title. 

Sydney Thunder, on the other hand, lost their opening match against Hobart Hurricanes by 19 runs and are currently lurking at the bottom of the leaderboard. They would be eager to turn their fortunes around at their home ground.
