The 12th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 is currently underway at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where Gujarat Giants Women (GGW) are facing off against Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (RCBW). Gujarat opted to bowl first after winning the toss, putting pressure on RCB’s top order from the outset.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Women faced a rocky start as skipper Smriti Mandhana once again failed to take charge after her slump against UP Warriorz in previous match. RCB lost early wickets in the powerplay, struggling to establish a strong foundation. Mandhana, who was already under pressure after a low-scoring last outing, could not anchor the innings, further compounding RCB’s woes.

Smriti Mandhana Throws Away Wicket With Poor Sweep

Smriti Mandhana’s dismissal came in the sixth over when she attempted a slog sweep against Tanuja Kanwar’s second delivery. The ball, pitched full outside the off stump, enticed Mandhana into a risky stroke, but she failed to get the desired connection.

The shot lacked power and elevation, allowing Harleen Deol to complete a comfortable catch at deep midwicket. Mandhana walked back after scoring 10 runs off 20 balls, leaving RCB struggling at 25/3.

GG Makes Early Inroads

As the match progresses, RCB is looking to recover from the early blows. At the time of writing, RCB are at 57/3 after 10 overs, with Raghvi Anand Bist and Kanika Ahuja at the crease. Gujarat Giants Women, having dominated the early phase, will aim to capitalize on their strong start with disciplined bowling.
