Quinton de Kock, one of the standout performers in the ongoing 2023 World Cup, had been riding a wave of form and consistently delivering valuable runs for his team. However, the explosive left-handed batsman, who is contemplating retirement, suffered an unexpected setback when he departed early in the match, only 3.3 overs in, having scored 24 runs off 14 balls. It was a well-executed delivery from the Pakistan paceman, Shaheen Afridi, that ended de Kock's innings.

In the 3.3rd over of the game, Afridi sent down a delivery that de Kock attempted to pull but mistimed, resulting in a simple catch for Mohammad Wasim Jr. This wicket provided Pakistan with the much-needed breakthrough they were seeking. It wasn't an exceptional delivery, but the execution of the plan was spot on. De Kock's attempted pull shot found a fielder at deep square leg, and Wasim held onto the catch comfortably.

At that point, South Africa was positioned at 38 for 1 in 5 overs as they chased a target of 271 set by Pakistan. While de Kock's quickfire cameo had laid a decent foundation, South Africa would have hoped for a more substantial contribution.

As the match progressed, all eyes were on South Africa as they aimed to chase down the target set by the Men in Green.
