The final of the CPL 2024 turned out to be an exciting affair with Saint Lucia Kings winning their first CPL trophy after being put under pump by Guyana Amazon Warriors with early breakthroughs in the run chase. Kings were chasing a total of 139, but got off to a poor start and were reduced to 51-4 in the 10th over and it looked like Guyana would defend their title infront of their passionate home crowd.

One of those wicket was of Ackeem Auguste, a talented young southpaw from the Caribbean. It was Kevin Sinclair who got his wicket and it was followed by his iconic Somersault celebration which has first grabbed the attention of the world during the Gabba Test in early 2024. However, Sinclair has pulled off such celebrations in CPL quite a few times as he has the knack of picking crucial wickets and that is exactly what happened in the final.

Kevin Sinclair Picks Crucial Wicket In A Tense Final

Sinclair picked Auguste's wicket in the 9th over of the run-chase. He came 'round the wicket and bowled a lovely slider on middle and leg. Auguste went back to it as the ball was tad short, but missed it completely and the ball knocked over the stumps. It was followed by a wave of joy at the Providence Stadium with home crowd strongly behind their team and Sinclair made sure that he puts on a show with his celebration as well.

After Auguste's wicket, Seifert also fell early, but Roston Chase and Aaron Jones batted brilliantly under pressure and took the game away from Guyana Amazon Warriors. Jones smashed 48 while Chase scored 39 and the duo helped Saint Lucia Kings get over the line in the penultimate over of the match. Earlier, Noor Ahmad's three wicket-haul restricted Guyana to a low score as none of their batters could make a significant contribution on the big day.
