Afghanistan wicket-keeper Ikram Alikhil pulled off a stunning catch behind the wicket to send Mitchell Starc back to the pavilion in Match 39 against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The catch further derailed a disastrous Australian innings as the men in yellow got reduced to seven down with only 91 on the board.

The incident happened during the third delivery of the 19th over. Starc was facing Rashid Khan, who bowled a wrong ‘un and the left-hander played it on the back foot only to edge it to Alikhil, who juggled down the silly point area to grab it on the third attempt.

It was an extraordinary grab in terms of reaction as the ball popped out of his gloves not only once but twice before he grabbed it tumbling in the end. However, the replay showed that Starc might not have edged it but the left-hander ran out of time and had to walk back to the pavilion.

At the time of writing this, Australia is in all sorts of trouble as they are seven down with only 126 on the board at the halfway mark chasing 292. The Afghan bowlers got the best out of the conditions and are on the verge of another historic win in this World Cup.
