In a thrilling contest, the West Indies women's cricket team knocked England out of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 to secure a spot in the semi-finals for the first time since 2018. The sudden shift in net run rate proved fatal for English Women as captain Heather Knight had an emotional meltdown following the heartbreaking loss.

ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 edition produced the biggest upset of the tournament as West Indies knocked out an unbeaten England to advance to the semi-final stage with a better net run rate.

Having been asked to chase 142 runs, Hayley Matthews and Qiana Joseph stitched up a 102-run partnership in just 12 overs. Deandra Dottin added 29 runs off 19 deliveries as West Indies completed the chase in 18 overs and topped the Group B standings with a +1.536 NRR.

Despite a strong performance from Nat Sciver-Brunt, who scored an unbeaten 57, England couldn't contain the West Indies' aggressive batting. England's hopes of reaching the semi-finals were crushed, with captain Heather Knight and her team left in tears after being eliminated. Knight had led from the front with a quickfire 21 but was forced to retire hurt in the 13th over, further weakening England's chances.

Despite their unbeaten run in the tournament until this match, England struggled against the disciplined West Indian attack led by Hayley Matthews and Afy Fletcher. Deandra Dottin's fielding brilliance and a key run-out of Alice Capsey also played a pivotal role in keeping England under pressure throughout the innings.

With this win, the West Indies topped Group B, joining South Africa in the semi-finals. England, who also finished with six points, were knocked out on net run rate.
