The Indian team had the honour of meeting the legendary West Indies all-rounder, Garfield Sobers ahead of their upcoming series against the West Indies. During their practice session in Barbados, the team unexpectedly encountered the 86-year-old veteran, accompanied by his wife, at the Kensington Oval.

The memorable rendezvous occurred adjacent to the Garfield Sobers Pavilion, where the likes of Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and other team members got the opportunity to meet the West Indies legend.

Indian players had a memorable encounter with Sir Garfield Sobers

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a heartwarming video on Twitter capturing the interaction, which quickly created waves on social media. The clip began with captain Rohit, who is sporting a new look, extending his gratitude to Sobers while shaking hands with the legendary figure.

Ajinkya Rahane followed suit, engaging in a warm exchange, with Dravid introducing the veteran Indian batter to the great man. However, it was Kohli’s interaction with Sobers that stole the spotlight. The encounter between two cricketing legends was lauded by fans.

But the highlight of the video came when Shubman Gill had his own unforgettable moment with Sobers. As the young prodigious opener prepared to meet the cricketing icon, Dravid introduced him with an air of excitement.

"Shubman Gill, one of our most young exciting batsmen," Dravid declared, eliciting an appreciative response of "Ohh" from Sobers himself.

Gill graciously acknowledged Sobers' introduction and savoured the special moment. Following Gill, Shardul Thakur and Ravichandran Ashwin had their turn. The video concluded with Dravid engaging in a brief conversation with the legendary Sobers.

Meanwhile, anticipation is building for India's highly awaited all-format tour against the West Indies, which is scheduled to kick off on July 12 with the first of the two-match Test series.
