SA20 2022 blazed off to a flying start as MI Cape Town defeated Paarl Royals in the opening match of the season by eight wickets.
Brevis lights up the stage
Chasing 143 runs, MI Cape Town's openers Dewald Brevis and Ryan Rickelton went ballistic as their 90-run stand ensured an easy win for their team.
Although Brevis took his time initially, there was noone stopping him the moment he got his eyes in. Baby AB took down everyone with the Cape Town aiming for a bonus point as their victory was all but certain.
Brevis' 41-ball 70 helped MI chase the target in the 16th over as they went home with a win and three points, including the bonus one.
Archer shows class on his return
Jofra Archer bowled like he was never gone as the speedster after a long layoff made a successful entry into professional cricket.
The England pace duo of Archer and Olly Stone made life difficult for the Royals. They took five wickets combined to clobber David Miller and Co. on a pitch that happened to be sluggish.
While Jos Buttler appeared to be slowish in his knock as per his standards, it was only because of him and Miller that Paarl had something for their bowlers to fight for in the second innings.
Buttler's 42-ball 51 and Miller with his 42-run knock took their team to 142/7 at the end of 20 overs.
Brief scores:
Paarl Royals - 142/7 (20)
Jos Buttler 51 (42), David Miller 42 (31);
