The New Zealand Legends pipped their Bangladeshi counterparts to register their opening points in the ongoing Road Safety World Series 2022. In a rain-curtailed contest at Indore, NZ legend Ross Taylor delivered the knockout punch at the end after Kyle Mills’ opening gambit had dusted the Bangladeshi top-order.

Mills made full use of the overcast conditions and dismissed two of the top three Bangladeshi Legends batters, both within the first three overs of the match. Some late contributions from Alok Kapali (37*) and wicketkeeper Dhiman Ghosh (41*) elevated their total 98-3 after 11 overs.

The New Zealand Legends’ response featured notable contributions from Jamie How, Dean Brownlie and captain Ross Taylor after opener Anton Devcich was sent packing for just two. Moreover, Taylor struck three sixes in his 17-ball knock to score an unbeaten 30.

His partnership with Brownlie ensured the Black Caps veterans took home the points with more than an over to spare.

The win marked New Zealand Legends’ first of the season, thus putting them at number five on the Road Safety Series 2022 points table. A winless Bangladeshi side remain at seventh place, just ahead of Australia.
