The much-awaited Pakistan Super League clash between the Islamabad United and Multan Sultans has been marred with rain in Rawalpindi as at the moment, the rain god is having no mercy and the toss for the upcoming match has been delayed. It is to be noted that there were predictions for rain throughout the evening and it came true.

The Rawalpindi Stadium doesn't have good drainage system and if the rain persists, the match could be abandoned. As per Accuweather, there was no rain predictions for the evening, but there was a bit of hailstorm in the afternoon and the same weather carried till evening as the toss has been delayed.

What happens if the game is abandoned?

If the match gets abandoned between Islamabad and Multan Sultans, both the sides will share a point each. This will negatively impact the Islamabad side since they came into this match undefeated and on a two-game winning streak.

The Sultans lost their last game against Karachi Kings and Mohammad Rizwan, too, won't be happy with the outcome.

Does Rawalpindi have quality drainage system?

In the Champions Trophy 2025, several high-profile matches were washed out because of the drainage system. The Rawalpindi Stadium doesn't have a quality drainage and this could severely impact the match even if the rain stops.

Even in the Champions Trophy, games were abandoned after the rain stopped since the ground had no proper facilities to soak up the water.

PS: The match, however, is set to start with Multan opting to bowl first. It will be a full 20-overs contest.
