Afghanistan spinner, Mujeeb Ur Rahman achieved a career-defining milestone by claiming his 100th ODI wicket during the ICC World Cup 2023 clash vs Netherlands in Lucknow on Friday.

The notable feat occurred when Mujeeb delivered a brilliant over that culminated in the lbw dismissal of Wesley Barresi for a single run, during the very first over of the match.

As he celebrated the landmark wicket, the crowd and his teammates alike appreciated the significance of the moment. With this wicket, Mujeeb has not only reached a personal milestone but has also reinforced his status as one of the most promising talents in the sport.

This achievement comes as a crowning glory in what has been a meteoric rise for the young spinner since his ODI debut in 2017. Mujeeb's journey has been marked by a series of standout performances that have bewildered the best of batsmen with his cunning spin.



It took him just 73 matches to join the elite club of bowlers with a hundred ODI wickets, tying with Dawlat Zadran as the joint second-fastest among Afghan players to reach this mark with Rashid being the fastest to achieve the milestone in just 44 matches.

This consistent performance has cemented his place alongside other Afghan cricket stalwarts in the most ODI wickets list for Afghanistan. Rashid leads the pack with an impressive 179 wickets, followed by Mohammad Nabi with 157, and Dawlat Zadran with 115.

With Mujeeb's entry into the hundred-wicket club, he joins this elite cadre, showcasing the depth and talent present in Afghan cricket's bowling ranks. Gulbadin Naib trails just behind with a commendable tally of 72 ODI wickets.
