In a phenomenal achievement, Litton Das equalled Shakib Al Hasan's tally of the most fifty-plus scores for Bangladesh in T20 Internationals. The veteran batter attained the landmark in the ongoing encounter against the Netherlands at Sylhet Stadium.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Bangladesh restricted the Netherlands to a modest total of 136 runs, riding on Taskin Ahmed's record-breaking spell. Chasing 137, the Tigers had a brisk start to their innings, as Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan played quick-fire cameos. 

Although the Bangladesh openers failed to convert their starts into significant scores, captain Litton Das didn't give an inch to the Dutch, eventually bringing up a blistering half-century. The stylish right-handed batter took only 26 balls to reach his fifty, thereby registering the most fifty-plus scores for Bangladesh in T20Is.

As mentioned above, Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan currently have the same number of fifty-plus scores in T20Is. Therefore, if Das sustains his purple patch and slams another half-century in the series, he will go past the talismanic all-rounder on the list. 

Talking about the match, Bangladesh comfortably chased the 137-run target, with Litton Das and Saif Hasan remaining unbeaten till the end. While Litton smashed six glorious boundaries and two sixes for his 29-ball 54*, Saif struck three huge maximums for a counterattacking 36-run knock. 

With this victory, Bangladesh took a crucial 1-0 lead in the series. The second match of the three-game T20I leg will be played at the same venue on Monday, September 1.
