India are currently facing New Zealand in the first Test of the three match series at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Indian team are on the back foot in the match after they were bundled out for 46 runs in the first innings. The Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first in overcast conditions and the batters failed to deliver against the hostile bowling of the kiwi pacers.
New Zealand put themselves in the driver's seat at the end of Day 2
New Zealand came up with a strong reply to India's paltry total. At the end of Day 2, they were stationed at 180/3 with a lead of 134 runs. Mohammed Siraj provided India with the first wicket of Day 3 and gave them a glimmer of hope in the match. Siraj picked up the wicket of Daryl Mitchell and gave the Indian bowlers an opening into the game.
The ace pacer, Jasprit Bumrah further capitalised on the proceedings with masterful planning. In the 58th over of the New Zealand innings, Bumrah picked up Tom Blundell's wicket with a delightful set up.
Jasprit Bumrah set up Blundell to dismiss him
Bumrah angled in the first delivery of the over into the stumps, the batter missed a flick and wore the ball on his pads. Bumrah followed this up with a couple of deliveries at the off stump on the good length area. On the fourth delivery of the over, Bumrah bowled it slightly shorter and wider forcing Blundell to play away from his body. The ball flew off the outside edge into the hands of KL Rahul in the slip cordon.
The wicket was not only testament to the skill set of Jasprit Bumrah but also was an display of the thinking level the bowler possesses. India will be hoping that the speedster weaves his magic further and keeps India in the game.
