Shubman Gill, who launched the home series against New Zealand with an imperial ODI double, finished off the same with another triple-digit score in the deciding T20I. The cricketer’s knock powered India to a record 168-run win, as Hardik Pandya and co. claimed the three-match series after losing the opening contest.

After the match, Gill expressed his excitement and revealed his batting mindset that has been yielding him runs in heap these days. The right-handed opening batter also addressed how he is not bothered of India’s hectic cricketing schedule, which calls for players to turn up series after series without much break in between.

Shubman Gill says his practice paid off

Gill smoked 12 boundaries and seven towering sixes across Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. He faced just 63 deliveries to mount 126* off his bat, thus engineering India’s total to a monumental 234-4.

When asked about his match-winning ton and newfound six-hitting capability, he said:

“Yeah, it feels good when you practice and it pays off. I was backing myself to get the big ones in the Sri Lanka series and in the ODI series. It doesn't happen always but great to get it now. I mean everybody has a different technique to hit those sixes. Hardik Pandya bhai told me to keep batting the way I do. And it paid off,”

The youngster also claimed that he is not bothered by India’s jam-packed cricketing calendar. He stated that he is not suffering from any fatigue and does not considers playing for India as exhausting. Gill said:

“I mean, when you are representing your country, there isn't any kind of fatigue. When you get to represent your country in all three formats, I believe, there shouldn't be any fatigue but thankful to god.”
