Australia showed great resilience and great game awareness as they thrashed West Indies by 164 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the Test series.

With Pat Cummins out in the second innings due to an injury, Australia needed a bowling masterclass, and Nathan Lyon produced just that.

The wily spinner grabbed 6 for 128 and rattled the Windies for 333.

Speaking to the official broadcaster after the game, Lyon appluaded the Aussie spirit and also gave an insight about Cummins' injury.

Lyon speaks

"Yes, a long way to go. A great start to the series, winning the first game. We expected a tough fight and [they] did so. I was happy to get Kraigg's wicket. He is a superstar batter and to get him out was great.

Yes, we had to look after him (Cummins) and he's fine at the moment. I really hope Cummins is good to go for Adelaide."

Talking about Marnus Labuschange, Lyon said:

"Incredible. He is an incredible cricketer for both Queensland and Australia. He wants to be called the baby G.O.A.T, but i'm not sure whether we can call him that. It was a hard-fought win and we are happy with it."

The second Test between Australia and West Indies commences from December 8 at the Adelaide Oval.
