Pakistan have got a new star in the making as 29-year-old Kamran Ghulam has smashed a century on his Test debut. In the ongoing 2nd Test between Pakistan and England at the Multan Stadium, Ghulam, who came in as Babar Azam's replacement, repaid his faith in selectors with a stunning hundred.

Ghulam scored a 192-ball century, which featured nine fours and a solitary six. On the last ball of the 74th over, Ghulam brought up his ton with a four as he whacked one to Joe Root. He broke into wild celebrations and threw a fist in the air to celebrate his century.

The right-hand batter came to bat when Pakistan were 19/2. The 29-year-old was under immense pressure when he came to bat as he had big shoes to fill. There was already a huge uproar over PCB's decision to drop Babar.

Nonetheless, Ghulam impressed the critics with his knock and entered an elite list as he became the 13th Pakistani player to score a century on their Test debut. His knock has also raised another discussion as to whether this is the end of the road for Babar Azam?

End Of Road For Babar Azam?

It is worth noting that Babar has been going through a major slump with the bat as he has not scored a solitary fifty for Pakistan in Tests in his last 18 innings. He would have hoped to be considered again in the playing XI had Kamran failed with the bat, but with the century, it looks like Ghulam has done his job and impressed the selectors.

It is to be seen whether Babar would be picked for the Test series against South Africa in December or Ghulam would be Pakistan's pick over their former skipper. Recently, Pakistan's assistant coach, Azhar Mahmood, spoke about Babar and revealed that he has not been dropped but rather given a rest.

Talking about Ghulam, he has played a solitary ODI for Pakistan before this match and scored a fifty in that match. Talking about his first-class stats, he represents Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and in 2020-21, became the first cricketer to score over 1,000 runs in a single Qaid-e-Azam Trophy season.
