DC-W vs UPW Live 🔴 | WPL 2023

That's it from the coverage of this fixture, do join us tomorrow on the Live-Blog for the next WPL fixture. Arnav Chopra signing off on behalf of team OneCricket. Good Night, see you in the next fixture!

Jess Jonassen has been handed over her player of the match award after she struck 42 unbeaten from 20 balls after which she grabbed a three-fer to decimate the opposition.

Arnav: I would not shy away from the fact that McGrath was fabulous. She did everything in her power to lower the margin of defeat.

11:05 PM IST | Finally, the match is over and it's Meg Lanning's Delhi Capitals who have succeeded well in this game. They have done amazingly decent job to triumph by a margin of 42 runs. Meg Lanning, the star with the bat in the first innings and she rightly deserves her Orange Cap!

Delhi Capitals win by 42 runs

Two good shots from McGrath but won't really help the cause. There was a massive six too.

There was a wonderful effect effect from Jemimah but unfortunately couldn't hold on to it...

Okay last over,

McGrath is batting on 78....

This is followed a six and four. Infact, there is another boundary after this.

Now then, this is tremendous from Tahlia. Even though there is no hope left to win but she is determined.

Three fours in the eighteenth over by McGrath. She is ready to fight but it's too late.

Three overs remaining...

Devika Vaidya falls in the trap of Jonassen and they are now five down for 120.

So, we're back and as I write this... the wicket falls.

10:45 PM IST | Alright, back to the match. Just four overs remaining and they need 99. But before that it is time for Strategic Timeout. Let's see how they go with this as McGrath is the key here.

And just in case you are wondering about the catch that was taken by Radha Yadav...

The situation of this game 👇🏻

Arnav: Let's be realistic. The chase looks like an improbable situation now. All they can hope for is to save their Net Run Rate.

UPW: 95/4 after 13 overs

Sixx that from Tahlia McGrath! Now, that's a powerful strike down the ground!

10:30 PM IST | It's the end of 12 overs and the score is just 84/4. 128 required off 48 balls. They need a Six in every over now. Somehow!

Some more holi Tweets!

Arnav: Run Rate is climbing up! The gap between the two sides is massive at this stage. They haven't even touched 100!

Waitttt!!! What a catchhhh!! Would you believe that?? Radha Yadav takes a stunner. It's Deepti who has to go! Surely, there is no chance they can make a comeback!!

Alright, she heard me. They needed some blows and Tahlia McGrath has struck two boundaries, one six and a four.

Meanwhile, UPW: 51/3 after 8 overs. Are they looking towards victory. Please tell me yes!!

Arnav: Holi fever getting in the camps now. ICYMI!!

10:08 PM IST | Not the start Tara would have liked...three boundaries in the over.

Last match's superwomen Tara Norris into the attack...

UPW: 3/33 after 6 overs

UP need to sit down and think what they are doing with this! Can't be playing rash now.

They are losing the plot now.

Guess WHAT?? They are three down now. It's Shweta Sehrawat who has to depart now. She edges one to the keeper.

Now then, they are in trouble...

Kiran Navgire comes in and goes!!!! No time to discuss the plan ahead as she gets out on her 2nd delivery.

Just as I said this, Healy loses her wicket! She comes down the track but couldn't get anything significant against Jess Jonassen. Is caught at cover region.

Healy might be looking to take on the bowlers, especially in the powerplay.

UPW: 22/0 after 2 overs

Arnav: They need to be up with run-rate and for that, two boundaries is what they need every over.

Two FOURS to start off the innings! Healy wants to chase this down!

9:38 PM IST | Alyssa Healy, takes the strike with Sweta Sehrawat at the other end. Marizanne Kapp steaming in.

Players out for the second innings now!

9:30 PM IST | We'll come back soon when UP comes out to chase gigantic 212. Stay Tuned...

Interesting fact: Delhi Capitals have never scored two consecutive double-hundreds in their history. And it's the women's team who have done it!

Arnav: UP's bowling looked pale right from the start and reflected on them as run-rate never really dropped too much.

9:22 PM IST | It was a show of skill and power by the Delhi Capitals as they piled up runs especially in the last four overs. They have played two games and have scored 200 in both of them.

DC-W: 211/4 after 20 overs

200 Up in 19.2 overs! As if I didn't told you before!

Fifty partnership between these two courtesy of two consecutive fours by Jemimah. They are doing it for Delhi.

DC-W: 195/4 after 19 overs. Alright last over, can they get to 200 here?

A massive six and another four by Jess. She is batting at a strike rate of over 200!

Jonassen in no mood to stop...

Another one down!! Infact, there was a runout chance too! Rodrigues gets the life now! All of a sudden, the fielding is starting to be the highlight! This is followed by a boundary. That's salt on the wound!

DC-W: 166/4 after 17 overs

Dropped!! Jonassen gets a life. Devika Vaidya, the culprit! This could haunt them big time.

Arnav: Game is certainly in Delhi's favour and if they go with some big shots in the final four overs.

DC-W: 153/4 after 16 overs

Jess Jonassen comes out in centre....

There you go!! In search for boundaries, Capsey is back into the pavilion! She miscues one against the express pace of Shabnim and couldn't even clear the thirty yard!

8:46 PM IST | This was decent shot from Alice to leg side boundary where Anjali Sarvani tries to  hold one but couldn't and along the way, touches the rope. Clear look suggests it's a six. Both arms raised up now!

After the end of 13 overs, the score is 130/3. This looks like a building phase for DC if they are serious about reaching double hundred.

Alice Capsey has the right temperament to score runs. She just needs to spend some time on the crease!

Capsey comes out in the middle and she thumps one for six! Now, that's a statement!

Alice Capsey and Jemimah Rodrigues at the crease. They would want to stay till the end.

Lanning loses her stumps! Rajeshwari Gayakwad who knocks over the DC skipper for 70! She was dominating the bowlers throughout her stay at the crease and this is the big breakthrough. The big, big one! Might have scored a hundred too if she wasn't cleaned up!

DC-W: 106/2 after 11 overs

Back-to-back fours for the captain, that brings up team's 100!

In search of a boundary, Proteas superstar plays a rash shot against Ecclestone but could only find Deepti Sharma at long-off.

Now then, Kapp departs!! Big Blow this.

8:30 PM IST | Players are back onto the field. The game begins with misfield as Marizanne Kapp finds the fence through the off side.

8:20 PM IST | Here's the update and it's a good one! The match will resume at 8:30 PM IST. Stay Tuned!

Arnav: Never did it looked that it was about to rain. Surely, the Gods might be having a plan. Maybe they are trying to give Warriorz some time to have their thinking hats on!

8:10 PM IST | Don't curse me please. It has started to RAIN! Infact, It's pouring here in Navi Mumbai!!

DC-W: 87/1 after 9 overs, Time for Timeout

Lanning gets to half-century with a four. Her second on the trot and what a tournament she is having already.

So, a slight appeal for LBW against Lanning by left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone which has been turned down. They are not going for review.

DC-W: 71/1 after 7 overs

Shafali Verma departs after she flicked one to the deep fine leg fielder Kiran Navgire who takes an outstanding one to send the batter back into the pavilion for 17.

Gonnneee!! First Breakthrough!

17 runs in the sixth over bowled by Rajeshwari Gayakwad! And the end of the powerplay sees the score of 62!

50 up for Delhi Capitals in 5.2 overs! They are aiming for 200, surely.

Alright, Skipper bags another boundary. So, after the end of 5 overs, score is 45 for no loss.

Arnav: Just as I was about to write something, Lanning launches another one into the stands. Guess what, she cuts the very next delivery to find the gap.

Sixxx!! Shafali joins the party as she targets the long-off boundary after giving herself some room.

7:42 PM IST | Outstanding fielding that from Simran Shaikh who dives on the boundary line to save a certain boundary.

Here we go, Meg takes the charge and smashes it over long-on for six. First of the innings.

Arnav: UP Warriorz have kept it tight until now, not many loose balls.

Finally, the first boundary of the game as Lanning breaks the shackles.

It's four runs after the end of first over.

Arnav: I would really want to see if Delhi can score 200 today as well!

7:29 PM IST | All right, players stride out to the centre with Shafali Verma and skipper Meg Lanning on the crease while Shabnim Ismail with the ball.

The playing XIs are here, let's have sneak peek..

The Capitals are unchanged. Rightly so.

One change only for the Warriorz and it is the big name Grace Harris, the match-winner from the last game is unfit and is being replaced by Shabnim Ismail.

Healy's UP Warriorz have won the toss and have elected to bowl first.

It's the Aussie duo of Alyssa Healy and Meg Lanning in the middle for the toss

All set for the toss, will be interesting to see who get's the call right...
