Matches are coming thick and fast in the Asia Cup 2023. In the fourth match of the Super Fours, Sri Lanka (SL) will take on India (IND). The match will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday, 12th September at 3:00 PM IST. Ahead of the game, here is a look at the top captain and vice-captain choices for the match.

India will draw a lot of confidence after handing over a heavy defeat to their arch-rivals, Pakistan in a two-day affair. The whole unit looked good as all the departments of the team fired. They will try and put out their A-games in this match too.

Sri Lanka is also coming into this game on the back of a convincing win against Bangladesh. The only area of concern for the team will be the openers, who are getting starts but are failing to convert them into big scores. Dasun Shanaka undermined the absence of a proper fifth bowling option in the last game and the team management will hope that he continues to deliver a significant number of effective overs in the upcoming games.

A win in this match, will solidify the teams' claim for a berth in the summit clash of the tournament and hence it promises to be an enthralling and exciting contest.

SL vs IND, Match 10: Venue Analysis

The pitch at the R Premadasa Satdium has looked pretty balanced and it will provide something for players of all trades. While the pacers will get help from the strip in the initial stages of both innings, the spinners will come into play as the game progresses. Batters, who are ready to grind themselves at the beginning will reap benefits from the wicket.

SL vs IND, Match 10: Toss Factor

Scenario: Sri Lanka wins the toss

Sri Lanka looks like a pretty balanced unit with most of their bases covered. Their spin bowling department is bolstered by the current form of Maheesh Theekshana. On winning the toss, Dasun Shanaka will look to bat first and provide the best conditions to his players.

Scenario: India wins the toss

Rohit Sharma will be well aware of the fact that the best batting conditions at Premadasa will be during the first innings. And after seeing the way Kuldeep exploited the wicket in the second innings, Sharma will definitely be inclined to bat first once more on winning the toss.

SL vs IND, Match 10: Top Captain and Vice-Captain Choices

Scenario: India bats first

Shubman Gill

The young Indian opener looked in great touch with the bat in the match against Pakistan. Although he scored a half-century, Gill be eager to play a big knock for his team in this game. Gill's current form and the hunger to score runs makes him a prime captain or vice-captain choice if India bats first.

Virat Kohli

Well, this is a pretty obvious name. Kohli is in great form after the stellar hundred against Pakistan, his records at Premadasa are brilliant and he enjoys playing against Sri Lanka. So, there is no such point where you can ignore him as a candidate for the captain or vice-captain.

Kuldeep Yadav

The left-arm chinaman bowler is coming with a five-fer under his belt into this game. The wicket at the Premadasa stadium is ideal for Kuldeep's style of bowling and once again he will be a good choice as to multiply points.

Scenario: Sri Lanka bats first

Pathun Nissanka

The Sri Lankan opener has been in decent touch throughout the tournament. Pathum has got starts in almost all the games but has failed to convert them. He will be eager to give a match-winning performance in this game and that makes him a great choice as the captain or vice-captain of the match.

Hardik Pandya

The Indian all-rounder has been performing with both the trades in the tournament. If India is chasing a target, Hardik the batter might play a very important role. Also, his knack of picking wicktes with the ball makes Hardik a differential choice as the captain or vice-captain of the match.

SL vs IND, Match 10: Big Risk, Big Return Choices

Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj has done a decent job with the ball so far in this tournament. However, a match-winning show from the pacer is what India is missing far. The Sri Lanka batters might struggle with Siraj getting help from the wicket at the beginning of the innings.

Dimuth Karunaratne

The Sri Lankan left-handed opener has looked good with the bat but has failed to deliver so far. Karunaratne is not completely out of touch and hence this might well be the day when he finally gets some runs under his belt. He could be a rewarding choice to be used as a point multiplier for the game.
