In a significant development, Kashvee Gautam has been ruled out of the ongoing women’s tri-nation series due to a leg injury. The 22-year-old seamer, who recently made her international debut, will be replaced by uncapped pacer Kranti Goud for the remainder of the series.

Kashvee Gautam Ruled Out Due To Injury

Gautam’s injury comes as a blow to the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side, which is currently topping the points table. After an impressive domestic and Women’s Premier League (WPL 2025) season for Gujarat Giants, she caught national selectors' attention with her consistent performances.

Kashvee Gautam was handed her maiden India cap in the opening game against Sri Lanka. However, her debut series was cut short after just three appearances, in which she failed to pick up a wicket and scored 22 runs in total. She has sustained leg injury during training has ruled her out of the rest of the tournament.

Kranti Goud Gets National Call-Up

In Kashvee Gautam's absence, 21-year-old Kranti Goud has been called up to the squad. The right-arm pacer, who has featured in eight matches for UP Warriorz in the WPL, will be eager to make her mark if given an opportunity.

With six wickets to her name in the WPL, Goud has shown promise as a rising talent in India’s pace-bowling ranks.

India Eye Final Spot As Proteas Fight For Survival

India currently sit top the tri-series table with two wins from three matches and four points. They started the tournament on a strong note with victories over both Sri Lanka and South Africa.

However, India’s unbeaten run came to an end in their third game, as Sri Lanka stunned the visitors with a three-wicket win marking their first victory over India since 2018. That result has thrown the series wide open.

India will next face South Africa on Wednesday, May 7, in a crucial match. The South African women are yet to register a win and sit at the bottom of the table. Another loss would mean elimination from the competition and confirm India and Sri Lanka as the finalists for the championship match on May 11.
