Would they pull out of a tour to India: Vaughan slams Australia for postponing SA tour

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has slammed Australia for postponing the tour of South Africa. Vaughan in a tweet wrote, “The Aussies pulling out of the tour of SA is a huge worry for the game...Would they have pulled out of a tour to India is the question??!!"

"It's so important in these times that the big three do everything they can to help out those without the financial clout ...#JustSaying," he added.

Australia had postponed the tour of South Africa citing COVID-19 issues. "Following extensive due diligence with medical experts, it has become clear that traveling from Australia to South Africa at this current time poses an unacceptable level of health and safety risk to our players, support staff, and the community," Hockley said in a statement.

The Cricket South Africa did express their disappointment on this. "We are extremely disappointed by the decision of CA. CSA has been working tirelessly in recent weeks to ensure that we meet every single expectation of CA," said Smith in CSA release. The two teams were scheduled to play three Tests.

With Australia postponing the tour, New Zealand have qualified for the WTC finals automatically while the second team would be decided on the basis of India-England series.

Michael Vaughan rates Rishabh Pant as the most enjoyable cricketer with Stokes

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has heaped praises on Indian stumper Rishabh Pant after his heroics in the Test series Down Under. He compared Pant’s attacking instincts with none other than Virender Sehwag, who is regarded as one of the finest Test openers of all time. He further added that he loves watching Pant bat and is one of the most enjoyable cricketers along with Ben Stokes. “When Pant goes out to bat, I watch. I would not want to be next in because you know things will happen. But if he continues to play the game with the joy and energy he has at the moment as if he is still an 11-year-old then he will pose so many challenges to the opposing team," Vaughan was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. Further comparing Pant with Sehwag, Vaughan said that just like Sewage instilled the fear among opposition bowlers, Pant is also following the same footsteps. The Australian captain Tim Paine and the whole team was taken aback by Pant’s approach and found themselves in a corner while trying to play defensive. "Sehwag put the fear into opposing bowlers and Pant has the same ability at six to do the same. He will make mistakes and get out for low scores at times but he will also win so many games," Vaughan said. Pant played a pivotal role in India’s historic Test series victory in Australia and finished as the leading run-scorer of India in the 4 match series. India was drubbed badly by the hosts in the Adelaide Test and to make matter worse, they had to miss the services of Virat Kohli for the last 3 Test matches and was further pegged back with injuries to several frontline players. They somehow managed to field a playing XI for the final Test in Gabba which was perhaps not even their 2nd string team. Pant smashed a sensational counter-attacking 97 in Sydney and gave India realistic chances off pulling off a historic win. In the final Test, he remained unbeaten on 87 and saw India through to a memorable Test match and series victory.

Shane Bond feels its time for ECB to get Hales back in the scheme of things

Former New Zealand speedster and currently the head coach of Sydney Thunder, Shane Bond is of the opinion that Alex Hales has been punished way too much after he tested positive for recreational drug use a couple of years ago. Hales was subsequently banned for 21 days and he was not even included in the 2019 World Cup squad despite being a prime contender. He also had to sit out for the T20I and ODI series against Ireland and Pakistan at home. The decision was taken to create the right environment for the English team. Bond came out in support of Hales and stated that the 32-year-old has matured into a really good man following his exclusion from the national squad. He further added that its time for ECB to move and consider him for selection especially given the form he has been in off late. He is currently the leading run-scorer in the ongoing Big Bash League with 543 runs under his belt. "I just think that's really unfair because he's being punished for something that happened nearly three years ago," Bond was quoted as saying by Australia's Daily Telegraph. "Lots of young men make mistakes but he's learnt from it and grown-up. He's matured and he's a really good man that is just being punished way too much." Bond further reiterated the fact that its harsh on Hales as the board hasn’t contacted him since to know about his behaviour and other whereabout. Bond feels that its a failure of “due diligence”. "I've read a lot from the England camp about how it's about trust issues," Bond said. "Well, if that's the case, I want to know how they signed off on that because I'm still waiting for the phone call about how he's going over here. "If you're going to make it about trust then you need to do your due diligence and see what's actually happening but he's been here for two seasons and no one's rung us from the ECB to ask how he's fitted in and what he's been doing," Bond said. Hales has been in red hot form in the ongoing BBL and has been the backbone of the Sydney Thunder in the ongoing edition churning out runs for fun. Bond feels that Hales has matured enough and its time ECB calls him back and at least ask for his mental condition and behavioural changes. "How much longer will this go on because it's been nearly three years now," Bond said. "You've seen other incidents in the past where people have been forgiven and moved on so you've got to wonder if it's down to personality clashes rather than actually about trust or whatever it may be. "What really disappoints me is that no-one from the ECB has given him any clarity about what he's meant to do and how he can rebuild that trust. "He's been a great servant to England cricket and is too good a player not for someone to just have the courtesy of letting him know what he needs to do. What's been happening is really unfair," Bond concluded.
