Will Pucovski suffers his 11th concussion during Shield game against South Australia

Talented Australia and Victoria batsman Will Pucovski's unfortunate tryst with concussion resumed on Saturday (February 12) after the young cricketer was subbed out of the Sheffield Shield fixture.

According to media reports in Australia, Pucovski was struck on his head during the pre-day warm-up session.

He was declared fit to take the field against South Australia on Saturday. However, after just three deliveries in the field, he was seen with hands on his knees, immediately pointing out to the dressing room to replace him.

The right-handed opening batsman was eventually replaced by 12th man Travis Dean following consultation between Cricket Australia doctor Geoff Verrall and match-referee Simon Fry.

Victoria eventually claimed the last three wickets of South Australia and it was followed by Nic Maddison coming out to open the innings (in place of Pucovski) alongside Test opener Marcus Harris.

Following the development, Cricket Victoria released a statement that read, "Victoria has activated the concussion substitute on Day 4 of its Marsh Sheffield Shield match against South Australia at Adelaide Oval. Will Pucovski will be replaced in the XI by Travis Dean,"

"Pucovski reported concussion symptoms to medical staff while fielding in the first session of play this morning. He will continue to be monitored by Cricket Victoria medical staff."

This is the 11th time that Pucovski has gone down to concussion during a competitive fixture. The young opener, who scored a half-century in the first innings of the ongoing game against SA, made his Test debut against India last home summer.
