WI vs IND | 2nd ODI | India achieve phenomenal feat during their thrilling win

The second ODI between West Indies and India saw the Men in Blue edge past the hosts by two wickets in a nail-biter in Trinidad yesterday.  

Riding on Axar Patel’s blistering 35-ball 64, the visitors chased down a challenging total of 312, handing the men from Caribbean their second consecutive defeat in the series. 

India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series with this emphatic win. 

More importantly, this victory marked India’s twelfth consecutive ODI series win against the West Indies, the most by any team against a particular opposition in ODI history. 

In this process, India surpassed their arch-rivals Pakistan, who sit at the second position in the list with eleven successive ODI series wins against Zimbabwe.

Pakistan also occupy the third spot in this list, winning ten consecutive ODI series against West Indies. 

South Africa and India are placed below the Men in Green with nine back-to-back ODI series wins against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, respectively.  

Talking about the match, West Indies posted a challenging total of 311, powered by Shai Hope’s scintillating ton and Nicholas Pooran’s counter-attacking 77-ball 74. 

In reply, India crumbled to 205 for five in 38.4 overs. However, Axar Patel’s maiden half-century helped India register a memorable win with two balls to spare.
