In a crucial ICC World Cup 2023 encounter, Pakistan faced England, desperately seeking a win to keep their semi-final dreams alive. However, as fate would have it, England's decision to bat first and a subsequent strong performance with the bat crushed Pakistan's hopes. Amidst the action-packed encounter, one moment involving Pakistan's wicketkeeper-batsman, Mohammad Rizwan, stood out and invited a wave of criticism.

England's openers, Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow, got the team off to a solid start, adding 82 runs for the first wicket. Despite Pakistan's comeback with crucial wickets, Ben Stokes and Joe Root steadied the ship for England. However, a moment of unconventional wicketkeeping by Rizwan stole the spotlight during the 24th over.

As Pakistan leg-spinner Shadab Khan delivered a ball down the leg side to Ben Stokes attempting a reverse sweep, Rizwan attempted a move reminiscent of the legendary MS Dhoni. Dhoni, known for his agile wicketkeeping skills, often closed the gap between his legs to stop balls bouncing in front. In Rizwan's case, however, the execution failed.

Nasser Hussain, on commentary duty during the match, didn't miss the opportunity to point out the attempt, stating,

"Rizwan tried a Dhoni by getting his legs together but failed (to stop the ball)."

The ball slipped through the gap between Rizwan's legs, racing away to the boundary, and the incident quickly became a talking point among fans and commentators alike.

Despite this memorable moment, Pakistan's overall performance in the World Cup has been disappointing. The team, led by Babar Azam, officially bowed out of the tournament after losing six matches.
