Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) dropped a bombshell on Sunday as they announced their Test squad for the remainder of England tour and dropped three key players - Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, citing poor form.
The year, 2024 has been woeful for Babar, as the right-handed batter failed to deliver on three separate occassions. He failed Down Under Vs Australia, and couldn't do anything in the Test series Vs Bangladesh, scoring just 64 runs in 4 innings.
A lot was expected of himon a flat track of Multan during the first Test, but Babar once again crumbled under pressure as Pakistan lost the match by an innings, despite scoring more than 550-runs in the first innings.
The newly elected PCB selection committee made a bold call and dropped Babar from the remaining two Tests against England. In his place, the selectors have drafted in talented batter, Kamran Ghulam, who lit up the Pakistan Champions ODI Cup.
After his Test selection, Ghulam could be seen sweating it out in nets as he prepares for the upcoming England challenge. The batter looked confident and played some nice-looking shots as he gears up for his debut.
Pakistan also drop Shaheen, Naseem from England Tests
Not only Babar, but PCB have also taken a bold call by dropping Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah. The threey match-winners of the Pakistan side won't feature in the remaining two Test matches.
PCB are looking for a rejig and the three players certainly don't fall in their plans. Both Shaheen and Naseem have had poor performances in Test setup this year, and Pakistan certainly have moved on from the two speedsters.
