David Warner likely to meet Cricket Australia to discuss lifetime captaincy ban

With Aaron Finch's retirement from the One-Day International (ODI), the position of captain has opened for the Australian side. One good thing for Cricket Australia (CA) is that they have quite a few potential candidates to lead the side, with the 50-overs World Cup due next year in India.

One such candidate could very well be former skipper David Warner currently serving a lifetime captaincy ban after his involvement in the infamous sandpaper scandal that rocked Australian cricket in 2018. Warner is likely to meet CA chief Nick Hockley to discuss his decision getting overturned.

“Any opportunity you get asked to captain, it’s a privilege. For my circumstances, that’s in Cricket Australia’s hands. I can only concentrate on what I have to do and that’s using the bat and trying to score as many runs as I can,"

“My phone’s here [if CA want to call for a talk about leadership]. What’s done is done in the past. The good thing is there is a new board that has come along. I’m always happy to sit down and have a chat, and talk about anything they need to talk about. I’m just happy, enjoying my cricket and putting my best foot forward for the team.” - Warner was quoted by WAToday

Warner has already found support in T20I skipper Finch, and Test skipper Pat Cummins, both who have made their views heard on public platforms.
