Virat Kohli is an institution in himself: Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has said that former India captain Virat Kohli has set such high standards for himself that even his fifties go unnoticed. However, Kohli has been going through a rough patch over the last few months - be it on the international front or in the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).

Moreover, he also registered three golden ducks for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2022 Indian Premier League. 

Butt, however, applauded Virat Kohli for setting himself as an inspiration after scoring runs with ease across different formats since his debut way back in 2008.

“The ones who understand the game know that Kohli is an institution in himself. The way he has performed and carved himself into a role model as an athlete, as a batter and as a captain, he has an exemplary stature,” Salman Butt said on his official YouTube channel.

“Virat has set such high standards for himself that fifties in eight of his last 14 matches went unnoticed. People think that he isn’t in form because he got into the habit of scoring centuries. He will be back in form for the good of cricket,” he further added.

Salman Butt, who led Pakistan more than 10 years ago, has also said that it’s important for the big guns in world cricket to stay in form as the aspiring cricketers look up to them.

“The top class players, (Joe) Root, Kohli, Babar (Azam), (Kane) Williamson need to stay in form as they are the supermodels. The aspiring cricketers look up to them,” Salman Butt concluded.
