Tweaking the length helped me pick up wickets: Prasidh Krishna

India fast bowler Prasidh Krishna made his ODI debut for India on Tuesday against England in Pune and returned with figures of 4/54 in 8.1 overs in a winning cause. The home side etched a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after beating England by 66 runs in the first ODI.

The right-arm pacer did accept that the bowling in the initial part of the England innings wasn’t up to the mark and this was the reason that the English openers got a brisk start.

"It didn't start off well, and they came hard at us because we bowled poorly, but we had belief. We picked wickets in a cluster and that helped us a lot," Krishna said after the match.

"I understood after my third over, I can't bowl full, and then I hit good length areas, and let the ball do the rest," he added.

Prasidh who plays for KKR in the IPL admitted that the cash-rich league has helped him improve. "IPL has helped me, but in a 20-over format, it's more important to come back. I'd like to be known as a hit-the-deck bowler, and I'm trying to get the length more consistently," he said.

The fast bowler further added that he wants to be someone who is known for breaking partnerships.

“...I'm going to go back to the drawing board and improve upon it. I hope I can be the partnership breaker for long, because the team needed it at the time, so I was happy to do it," he added.

India went 1-0 up in the three-match series beating England by 66 runs in Pune on Tuesday. India first posted 317/5 in 20 overs, courtesy some fine performance from the batting line up and then bundled out the Eoin Morgan-led side at 251.

The two sides will be up against each other in the second ODI on Friday at the same venue.

Eoin Morgan, Sam Billings doubtful for second ODI against India

England skipper Eoin Morgan and Sam Billings are doubtful for the second ODI against India after sustaining respective injuries during the opening match in Pune. “We’re going to wait 48 for hours and see how it is…give as much time as needed to hopefully be available for Friday,” Morgan said at the post-match interaction. The visitors were bundled out for 251 in reply to India 317/5 in 50 overs. Captain Morgan only managed to score 22 off 30 before getting out to Shardul Thakur while Billings was undone by debutant Prasidh Krishna for 18 off 22. “I haven’t spoken with Sam about his batting so I don’t know in his instance… In mine, it’s never going to be at 100 percent but it’s not that I can’t hold a bat,” Morgan said. England had an aggressive start to the chase after Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow put up a stand of 135 runs for the first wicket in just 14.2 overs. But the visiting team then lost the way in the middle overs and were reduced to 217/6 before getting bundled out for 251. Earlier, the home side rode on some fine batting performances from Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and debutant Krunal Pandya to post a huge total on the board. While Dhawan missed out on a hundred by just two runs, Kohli, Rahul and Krunal notched up individual half-centuries. Left-handed player Krunal smashed the fastest fifty by a batsman on debut after he went past the 50-run mark in just 26 balls. India lead the three-match series 1-0 with the two teams taking on each other in the second ODI at the same venue on Friday.

Adam Zampa to miss IPL opener against MI

Australia and RCB leg-spinner Adam Zampa will miss the opening encounter of the IPL 2021 against Mumbai Indians due to his marriage. RCB's Director of Cricket Mike Hesson confirmed via a video on the franchise's Twitter page that the leggie would be missing the opener of the tournament. "We won't have our full contingent of overseas players available for the first game," Hesson told on Bold Diaries. "Adam Zampa is getting married. It's an important time for him and it's something that as a franchise we are aware of and we respect and we hope he has a great time. So when he joins us, once again he is going to be fresh and make a massive contribution to the rest of the tournament." RCB are scheduled to begin the campaign against MI in Chennai. Zampa was one of the players retained by the RCB franchise ahead of the mini auctions that were held last month in Chennai. The right-arm bowler has been a part of 14 IPL matches picking up a total of 21 wickets. RCB bought a total of seven players in the auctions this year. Glenn Maxwell, Kyle Jamieson and Daniel Christian were the overseas players bought by the franchise while Sachin Baby, Rajat Patidar, Mohammed Azharuddeen and Suyash Prabhudessai have been the uncapped Indians in the squad. The franchise will be looking to have a successful IPL campaign in this edition. They have reached the finals thrice in earlier seasons but have failed to lift the trophy.

Sri Lanka made a fine turn around on the third day of the first Test against West Indies in Antigua after they took a lead of 153 runs in the second innings before the stumps were called. The visitors wrapped up West Indies first innings quickly on Day 3 after the hosts just managed to add three more runs in their overnight score of 268/8. Sri Lanka later concluded the day’s proceedings at 255/4 nullifying the lead that the Kraigg Brathwaite-led side had taken in the first innings. Fast bowler Suranga Lakmal scalped a five-wicket haul while Vishwa Fernando and Chameera picked up a couple of wickets each during the course. The visiting team then had a disappointing start to the second innings after West Indies had an early success. The Sri Lankan side lost captain Dimuth Karunaratne cheaply for 3 but Lahiru Thirimane and Oshada Fernando turned the tables for them and the two put up a stand of 162 runs for the second wicket. Fernando missed out on a hundred after getting undone by Kyle Mayers. The right-handed batsman was caught behind by Joshua de Silva after edging one from Mayers. Thirimane notched up 76 before getting cleaned up by Kemar Roach on a length delivery coming into the left-hander. Sri Lanka then saw a fall of wickets in quick succession before Dhananjaya de Silva and Pathum Nissanka came in for the rescue. De Silva concluded the day’s play at 46* while Nissanka was unbeaten at 21. Roach and Mayers were the two West Indies bowlers among the wickets. Sri Lanka were earlier bundled out for 169 in the first innings while West Indies managed to score 271, courtesy a half-century from Cornwall. Mayers later admitted that a couple of early wickets on Day 4 will help them get back on track in this clash. “I think the wicket is a good one. It’s flattened out nicely,” Mayers said. “Obviously they had the upper hand today but the game is still evenly poised. We’re still in the game. All we need is two early wickets tomorrow and then we’re in with a chance.” West Indies would now be looking to get some early breakthroughs to prevent Sri Lanka from posting a big total on the board. De Silva and Nissanka, on the other hand, would seek to build on the partnership they have got. The two batsmen are pretty well set in the middle.
