After a terrible hip-flexor injury to Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) skipper KL Rahul, the side have announced the replacement for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Karnataka batter and triple centurion for India in Test cricket, Karun Nair has been signed up as his statemate's replacement.

Rahul was leading his side against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Lucknow when he injured his leg while chasing a ball at the boundary line. In his place, all-rounder Krunal Pandya has been asked to lead the side for the rest of the season as he previously did versus Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Meanwhile, Nair has featured in 76 games where he is just four short of 1,500 runs while striking at around 127. Debuting in the year 2013, Karun has represented four franchises from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Rajasthan Royals, then Delhi Capitals and later, Kings XI Punjab (Now Punjab Kings).

Nair became famous when he slammed a triple-ton against England back in 2016, however, the rotten luck kept him out of action for too long as he only managed to feature in six Tests during his entire career until now.

Earlier, Rahul's IPL season was put to an end by the scans which revealed that his injury is severe and would require some more time to heal. This also means that his spot in India's World Test Championship (WTC) squad is under threat as recovering by the first week of June would be quite a task for the experienced batter.
