Finally, the wait is over, and the 17th edition of the much-awaited Asia Cup will begin today (September 9) with Afghanistan taking on Hong Kong in the opening match in Abu Dhabi. The match will start at 8 PM (IST).

This year, eight teams (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, UAE, Hong Kong, Oman, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan) will participate in this edition.  

It is important to note that the Asia Cup has been alternately played in ODI and T20I formats since 2016. This prestigious event will be played in T20 format to provide crucial preparation for the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
