The Hundred | Manchester vs London: When & where to watch match Live, Probable XI, Fantasy XI

The London Spirit are now officially out of the race of the Playoffs having been unable to win even a single game of the five matches that they have played so far in the inaugural season. Led by England’s limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan, it has been a disappointing season for the team so far. However, they would like to end it on a high in their last two games, the first one of which would be against Manchester Originals.

Originals on the other hand have been marred by bad weather more than anything else. They have lost only of their four games and are still in fifth place with five points to their name. Unlike Spirit, they can make it to the Playoffs, all they have got to do is win at least two of their three games left.

Their game against a Spirit with nothing to do would be crucial as a loss here could get them under a lot of pressure when they would be ford to win both of their last two games.

Pitch Report

The pitch at manchester has invariably assisted spinners this season, be it Blast or The Hundred. Although a lot of rain might have helped it regain some freshness, still its wear and tear from playing throughout the summer wouldn’t have gone away in a few days of rainfall and hence support for spinners would be obvious.

Weather Forecast

Warm sunny weather would welcome the London Spirit from the recent gloom of their home town to Manchester. There is no forecast of rain and hence this match, unlike the last Originals encounter won’t be washed away.

BAN vs AUS | Aussies dismissed for their lowest T20I total as Shakib helps Tigers lift T20I series 4-1

It was a historic day in Bangladesh and an equally opposite one in Australian cricket. While the Aussies slumped to their lowest ever T20I total of 62, losing their last five wickets in eight runs. In fact, it was Australia’s shortest innings in cricketing history in terms of balls as they were dismissed in 13.4 overs, breaking their previous record of 14.3 balls, where they were dismissed for 79 in a T20I against England in 2005. For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan was the hero finishing with figures of 4-9 in only 3.4 overs. On his way to the four wickets, he also crossed the 100 wicket mark in T20Is, thereby becoming the first cricketer in history to complete the double of 100 wickets and score 1000 runs. Other bowlers to take wickets included Mohammad Saifuddin, who was playing only his first game of the series, Nasum Ahmed and skipper Mahmudullah. While Siafudding picked up three, Nasum got two wickets and Mahmudullah a solitary one. Surprisingly Mustafizur Rahman, who had so far picked up seven wickets in the series failed to pick any today. For Australia, only captain Matthew Wade and Ben McDermott were able to cross the double-digit while the rest of the crew simply crumbled. Earlier in the day, Bangladesh after winning the toss chose to bat first. With little contributions of Mohmmad Naim, Mahmudullah and Somya Sarkar, the Men in Red and Green managed to reach 122-8 in their quota of 20 overs. Nathan Ellis and Dan Christian picked two wickets each. Having not won even a single T20I game against Australia prior to this series to go on to beat them 4-1, Bangladesh’s achievement was outlined by a brilliant display from all players at various stages. However, Shakib, for his seven wickets and 11 runs in five games was adjudged Player of the Series.

Shafali Verma leads Birmingham Phoenix Women to record runchase in The Hundred

It was raining fours at Edgbaston, Birmingham during the Birmingham Phoenix Women vs Welsh Fire Women game in The Hundred. A total of 31 fours were hit in both innings combined as Phoenix made completed a record win, chasing down 128 with all wickets intact and 24 balls remaining in the Hundred ball format. Shafali Verma and Eve Jones, the two openers of the Phoenix played tremendous knocks to get the team over the line. Chasing 128 in a 100 ball game is not an easy task and as a matter of fact, in The Hundred’s Women’s competition, this is the biggest victory in terms of wickets and ball remaining. The two Phoenix Women openers didn’t give any chance whatsoever to the Fire Women bowlers as they exploited each and every corner of the Edgbaston ground. While overseas star India’s Shafali Verma remained unbeaten on 76 off 42 balls with the help of nine fours and two sixes, striking at more than 180, 29-year-old Jones was equally impressive in her innings of 52 not out of 35 balls. The Fire bowlers kept searching for wickets but were unable to find any. Verma was adjudged Player of the Match for her performances with the bat. Earlier in the day, after winning the toss, Phoenix had decided to field first. Fire, with the help of Bryony Smith’s 38 and Alice Macleod’s unbeaten 19 off 13 balls managed to reach 127 for the loss of nine wickets. Kristie Gordon took two wickets for Phoenix. With this win, their second of the season, Phoenix have kept themselves alive for the Playoffs with one game to go. Although a lot of permutations and combinations would have to go their way along with the victory in the last match.
