The Hundred | Manchester Originals vs Northern Superchargers: Where to watch Live, Probable XI, Fantasy XI

Two teams with different trajectories in what is a very short span of cricket in the game’s newest version will collide with each other. These two teams the Manchester Originals and the Northern Superchargers would now also be without their natural leaders and original captains Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes respectively.

While the home team in this encounter, the Originals have come back strong after the first defeat to register a win in their next game, the Superchargers are still looking for a charged-up performance having gone down twice in their first two matches.

Even after the absence of Buttler and Stokes, the teams have enough firepower and star value to keep drawing a large number of fans on the ground as well as on the screens around the world.

The likes of Colin Munro, Carlos Brathwaite and new English spin sensation Matt Parkinson would now have to take responsibility in Buttler’s absence for the Originals. On the other hand, the Superchargers would be banking on the experienced heads of Adil Rashid, Chris Lynn and Adam Lyth while at the same time hoping that young guns Harry Brook and David Willey come good as well.

Pitch Report

The pitch at Old Trafford has proved to be a happy hunting ground for the spinners as Parkinson evidently showcased in the last game with his brilliant performance against Birmingham Phoenix. And as things stand, the pitch would most likely keep on helping the pinners as well.

There is a forecast of more than 70% chances of precipitation throughout the day at Old Trafford on Wednesday, July 28. Thus there are more than sure enough chances of the match getting disturbed due to rain. Hopefully, there won’t be much disturbance and the crowd could witness another entertaining game of The Hundred.

I try to perform in every game: Babar Azam claims his performance improved after captaincy

Pakistan captain Babar Azam feels that captaincy has positively impacted his performances as a batter and he is able to perform better while being the skipper of the side. Babar also went on to say that since p[eople’s expectation has increased, the results of the team are not showing initially but in long run, it will. "From the time I've become captain, the margin of error is less and the expectations have also increased,” the 26-year-old said in a pre-series virtual press conference ahead of the start of the four-match T20I series against West Indies. “I try to perform in every match. Since the time I've become captain, my performances have improved as well. I take it as a challenge. Hopefully, I can carry on and I can improve even more,” he added. Although the team has lost the T20I series 2-0 against England and was beaten 3-0 by second string English side in ODIs, Babar’s performances ever since becoming the captain has indeed improved in the white-ball formats. While in nine ODIs as a skipper he averages 78.25, his average as a non-captain player in the ODIs was 54.17. In the T20Is, the improvement is not there in the average but his strike rate for which he was always criticised has definitely improved. In 24 matches, Babar has scored 863 runs at an average of 43.15 and a strike rate of 137.4. While when he was batting just as a player, he had scored 1290 runs at 49.61, but his strike rate was only 126.59. The four-match T20I series against the defending World Champions West Indies begins on July 28 and Babr feels that the management will back its players to come good.

I see myself as an all-rounder: Hasan Ali wants to reach the levels of Wasim Akram, Abdul Razzaq

Pakistani quick bowler and more than a handy lower-order batter, Hasan Ali wants to emulate great Pakistani all-rounders like Wasim Akarma, Abdul Razzaq and Azhar Mahmood. The 27-year-old believes that he can contribute to the team with the bat as well and is putting hard yards in the nets to learn various aspects of power hitting. "I want to see myself as an all-rounder in all three formats and I am putting in extra yards in the nets. I am inspired by Wasim Akram, Abdul Razzaq and Azhar Mahmood and want to contribute in crucial times for my team," Hasan was quoted as saying by cricket.com "I usually get to bat in death overs in T20Is and the only option I have at that point is to hit the ball hard. I am working to improve my power-hitting in the practice sessions and learning how to score more and more runs against Yorkers, bouncers and slower deliveries,” the right-handed batter and right-arm pacer added. Having done better than most of his other teammates in England where he picked up a five-for in the ODIs and also hit 31 off just 17 balls in an innings, Hasan believes that whenever he takes the field he gives his 100% no matter what. “I believe in giving everything for the team once I step on the field whether it is by taking a wicket or hitting the ball out of the park,” he said ahead of the start of the four-match T20I series against West Indies which begins with the first T20 on Wednesday, July 28 at Kensington Oval, Barbados.
