St Lucia Kings (SLK) secured an eight-run victory over the Jamaica Tallawahs (JT) in Match 7 of the 6ixty Men's Competition at Basseterre on Saturday (August 27).

Charles, Primus boost Kings to a fighting total

Invited to bat first, Kings lost its opener, Leroy Lugg, in the first over. However, the hard hitters' Johnson Charles and Roshon Primus were quickly up to their task to find boundaries coming in their favour.

The duo added 75 runs at a lavish rate before Charles was dismissed on a well-compiled 32 off 21 balls. Primus continued until the end to give a strong finish with 48 off 25 balls and resulting in King scoring 109 in their designated quota of 60 balls.

Tallawahs fail despite strong batting line-up

It was rather an easy chase for the line-up who scored 139 in their last outing in the tournament. However, explosive batter Kennar Lewis again could not provide a substantial contribution.

Amir Jangoo continued his rich vein of form to hit 44 of 20 balls, while Rovman Powell could not bring his flavour by taking 25 balls to score 34 runs. Both the batters were dismissed by Kiwi quick Scott Kuggeleijn in the penultimate over.

In the last over, Primus held his nerve to defend and help Kings to secure a victory by eight runs.

Brief Scores:

St Lucia Kings- 109/5 (60b)

Roshon Primus 48 (25), Johnson Charles 32 (21)
Joshua James 2/25

Jamaica Tallawahs- 101/4 (60b)

Amir Jangoo 44 (20), Rovman Powell 34 (25);
Scott Kuggeleijn 2/18

Result: Kings won by 8 runs
