T20 Blast 2022 | WAR vs LEIC | Preview, Prediction, Probable XI, CREX XI

The 33rd match of the English T20 Blast 2022 will see Warwickshire (WAR) locking horns against Leicestershire (LEIC) in the North Group at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Warwickshire has gotten off to a dream start into this year's T20 Blast season, having won all three games and currently sitting at the second place of the North Group. It has been a complete team effort from the Birmingham Bears as they are looking like a team to beat this summer.

They defeated Durham in their last outing, chasing 159 successfully, having won the previous two batting first. They restricted Durham for 158 runs in 20 overs which once looked easily chasable, but it was a poor start from their batters, losing four wickets for less than 40 runs.

Then comes the 23-year-old Chris Benjamin, who is having a career-defining season. He blasted a sublime 36-ball 68* and steered his side past the winning line.

On the other hand, Leicestershire could not continue their momentum after registering their first win of the summer against Yorkshire, having been thrashed by Northamptonshire at the Wantage Road. They have lost three out of the first four games in the North Group.

Scott Steel managed to score a half-century, which was never going to be enough in front of a mammoth total posted by Chris Lynn and co. But, unfortunately, their bowling attack again failed to deliver, followed by another horrific show with the bat.

However, five of their six wins against Warwickshire came at Edgbaston. They are a better team playing away from home. Let's see if the Ackermann led-side can continue their good record in Birmingham while Warwickshire look to continue their winning streak and make it four in a four.

Another point is that Warwickshire has added the newly contracted Che Simmons from Barbados in the squad for this game. The 18-year-old has been dubbed as the 'new Jofra Archer' in the club.

Match Details:

Match: Warwickshire vs Leicestershire, Match 33

Pitch Report: The pitch looks pretty balanced at the home of the Bears. It has been flat lately, so the team winning the toss should consider batting second here. The average first innings score is around 165 here. Anything lower than 180 should not be any problem for the chasing team.

‘He is an important member of the team’ - Temba Bavuma on David Miller

South Africa’s white-ball captain Temba Bavuma has recently expressed that he would have a chat with the swashbuckling batter David Miller about the latter's role in the national T20 team. However, Bavuma's comments came after the veteran was named their squad for their upcoming T20I series against India. However, Miller hasn't been consistent for his national team for some time now. Still, he has had a stellar season while playing for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the recently-concluded season of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. In 16 games, Miller smashed 481 runs which came at an average of 68.71 and a strike rate of 142.72, including two half-centuries. "He has performed exceedingly well in the IPL. Whatever feelings of insecurity he had are gone now. We will have a conversation. He is an important member of the team. If he feels he can add more value higher up the order, it is a conversation to have," Bavuma told the reporters. The South African skipper also opened up about preparations for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Australia later this year. The captain has also said that South Africa is yet to get together a proper team, but the sublime form of players in T20 leagues is expected to help them. "The important thing is to prepare for the World Cup. The guys need to be in a competitive space. And the India series will be an important part of the competitive process, even if the conditions will be different in Australia," he stated. "We haven't got together as a team but the rest of the (non-IPL players) have had good sessions. We will arrive a bit early to get familiarised. With multiple formats (this season), it will be important to manage the workload, especially the bowlers," Bavuma further added. Notably, the Titans won the 15th edition of the cash-rich league. They beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the final by seven wickets and clinched the title in their debut season only, and the 'Killer Miller' of the old was on display.
