T20 Blast 2022 | Shan Masood hopeful of Derbyshire Falcons’ resurgence

The Derbyshire Falcons lost to Northamptonshire by 5 wickets in their latest North Group game. The defeat dropped the Shan Masood-led side further in the 2022 T20 Blast points table. As of now, they are placed on the eighth spot in a 9-team North Group.

Having registered just two wins out of 6 league games so far, they will be desperately looking to regain lost ground in the next few matches. While Derbyshire’s next assignment includes a fixture against Leicestershire Foxes this Thursday (June 9), they will be facing Worcestershire in less than 24 hours.

Pakistan export Masood, who was appointed as Falcons captain days prior to the tournament, has expressed his eagerness to put his side back on track.

As reported on cricket.derbyshireccc.com, he said, “We know the value of each and every game that comes along. It’s good [having little time between games], because when results aren’t going your way, it gives you the chance to put it right quickly. It’s all about momentum; if we can get the next two results, it puts us in a good place for the back-end of the competition.”

The 32-year-old added, “We’ll take it day-by-day and come back on Thursday, put in a really good performance. This is not the end of the world, we’re on the right track and we need to keep believing.

While Derbyshire languishes on the eighth, Dane Vilas-led Lancashire continue to be at the top of the points table. They are followed by Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Yorkshire as the four occupy the top four slots in that order.

Meanwhile, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Durham are placed at 5th, 6th and 7th respectively. With just a solitary win out of 6 games, Worcestershire continue to remain the cellar-dweller of the North Group.
