T20 Blast 2022 | Durham sign Kent's wicketkeeper-batter Ollie Robinson on loan

In the latest development, Durham County Club has signed Kent's wicketkeeper-batsman Ollie Robinson on loan for the upcoming season of the T20 Blast.

Durham confirmed the development via an official press release on Monday, May 23.

"Durham Cricket are pleased to announce the signing of Ollie Robinson on loan from Kent for the Vitality Blast," the statement read.

The statement confirmed that the 23-year-old batsman will be available for the entirety of the Blast season. Robinson has represented Kent 18 times in the T20 competition, and he was a part of the outfit that won last summer.

"The 23-year-old will be available for the entirety of the Vitality Blast and is available for selection from Thursday night's Blast opener away to Leicestershire Foxes," the statement added.

Durham's Director of Cricket, Marcus North, expressed his excitement at the acquisition of the wicketkeeper-batsman.

 North said:

"Following a few injuries and England selection affecting our squad, we are excited to have Ollie for our Vitality Blast campaign,"

"He is an exciting young talent who will offer us multiple skill options. We look forward to welcoming him to Durham," he added.

However, Kent Director of Cricket Paul Downton confirmed that Robinson will continue to represent the county in the First-Class championship.

"Ollie will return to Kent for their LV= Insurance County Championship matches during the Vitality Blast and may be recalled from his loan at any time in the case of an injury to a Kent player or an England call-up."

Robinson had a poor start to his CC campaign as he could only manage just 66 runs in his first five outings.

However, he has recently managed to turn it around by smashing three half-centuries, and Durham will hope that he carries his form in the T20 Blast.

Durham will open their campaign against Leicestershire in Leicester on May 26, while defending champions Kent will start their stint with last year's runner-up, Somerset, in Canterbury on May 25.
