Suryakumar Yadav etched another record to his name during the 2nd T20I between India and New Zealand on Sunday (November 20).

In the absence of Virat Kohli, Surya arrived at number three, after the dismissal of Rishabh Pant. After setting his eyes on the pitch, the elegant batter began to stamp authority over the Kiwi bowlers.

Although Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer could not complement him well at the other end, SKY was prolific with his ball-striking abilities. Surya added 88 runs for the fourth wicket with Hardik Pandya, while scoring 75 of them.

Surya smashed 22 runs in the 19th over against Lockie Ferguson, and also completed a whirlwind century off 49 balls. In this process, the 32-year-old became just the second cricketer after Rohit Sharma to register two T20I centuries in a single calendar year.

In 30 innings, Surya has already amassed 1151 runs and is the top-scorer in the T20I format in 2022. Based on his performances, he is currently the No. 1 T20I batter as well.

With Surya's terrific knock of 111* off 51 balls, India posted a mammoth total of 191 on the board. For New Zealand, Tim Southee took a hat-trick and finished with figures of 3/34.
