Mohammed Siraj, the star Indian fast bowler has been appointed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the ruling Congress government. He officially took the charge as DSP by reporting to the Director General of Police (DGP) in Telangana and was accompanied by MP M.Anil Kumar Yadav, MP and TGMREIS president Mohammed Faheemuddin Qureshi.
The current Chief Minister of Telangana had earlier announced that Siraj would be given a Group-1 government position to promote the growth of sports in the state and award athletes who bring glory with their performance. Siraj expressed his gratitude after assuming the position and thanked Chief Minister and Telangana government for the honour.
Mohammed Siraj is one of the most high-profile sportsperson in Telangana as he has represented India with great distinction across formats. He was also part of India's victorious T20 World Cup campaign and is likely to serve Indian cricket for a long time.
Cricketers Who Have Enjoyed Government Position
Also, this is not the first time an Indian cricketer has been appointed as DSP. Deepti Sharma, the current Indian Women's team all-rounder is DSP in Uttar Pradesh while Joginder Sharma is working as a DSP in Haryana government. Harbhajan Singh also held DSP position in Punjab government earlier. Mahendra Singh Dhoni holds an office of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army while Sachin Tendulkar has been bestowed with a position of Group Captain in Indian Air Force.
As far as Mohammed Siraj is concerned, his story is an inspiration for all. His father was an auto-rickshaw driver, but Siraj rosed through the ranks of Indian cricket through sheer hardwork and skills. He made his T20I debut in 2017, but India's tour of Australia was a turning point in his career where he showed his class with the red-ball and since has been a regular in international cricket.
